A Body remembers what it longs to forget
24 June – 26 July 2025
Pragovka Residency, Prague, Czech Republic
Solo presentation as finnisage of the residency
During the residency I explored the body as a vessel of memory, a time capsule, a biological machine, within the frame of Pragovka’s year theme: resources.
What happens when we treat inherited memory as a resource? Can looking inward, towards the past, towards the body, be a resource for healing and transformation?
The final presentation at the residency featured a new series of hanging sculptures with integrated fluid systems, accompanied by a spoken word performance. I wrote the text from personal and inherited stories of my grandparents and their survival in a Japanese camp in Indonesia, of trauma perceived as a spirit —spirit Bukittinggi—still carried in the body through generations.
